U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) flows to Europe have been instrumental in securing the continent's energy amid Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. But the job isn't finished. Nearly one fifth of the EU's gas still comes from Russia, which will not be fully displaced until we collaborate with the bloc to supply more stable and secure energy.
With the EU imminently releasing its roadmap to phase out Russian gas, now is the perfect time for the U.S. to double down on LNG exports to advance our geopolitical goals and deepen key global alliances.
LNG exports benefit our economy, our national security, our allies, and the climate, and any action that would increase Russian gas flows to Europe will harm the progress we have made to combat Putin's energy aggression.
