WASHINGTON (September 11, 2025) – The Partnership to Address Global Emissions (PAGE) today issued the following statement in support of the Taiwan Energy Security and Anti-Embargo Act, introduced by U.S. Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Chris Coons (D-DE), Chairman and Ranking Member of Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy:
PAGE applauds Senators Ricketts and Coons for their bipartisan leadership in introducing the Taiwan Energy Security and Anti-Embargo Act. This important legislation would facilitate and expand U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to Taiwan, a vital U.S. ally and leading democracy in East Asia.
Expanding American LNG exports to Taiwan is a mutually beneficial solution to enhance energy security in the region, deepen bilateral ties, and support transpacific economic growth. By prioritizing LNG exports and strengthening their import and storage capacity, this bipartisan bill will help deliver more secure and diverse energy sources to Taiwan, which imports more than 95% of its energy.
Bipartisan leadership is essential for addressing today’s global energy challenges. PAGE urges swift Congressional action on the Taiwan Energy Security and Anti-Embargo Act alongside meaningful permitting reform that includes natural gas pipelines and LNG facilities so that we can fully unlock the energy resources at our disposal.
