WASHINGTON, DC – (September 30, 2026) – Today, the Partnership to Address Global Emissions (PAGE) issued the below statement supporting the Senate’s introduction of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026:
PAGE applauds the Senate's focus on achieving bipartisan permitting reform and leadership from Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) to address critical bottlenecks preventing America from building energy infrastructure and bringing down energy costs for consumers.
America faces fundamental obstacles that lead to years of delay and cancellation of critical energy projects, including natural gas pipelines and transmission lines, which increase costs for consumers while undermining U.S. energy security and economic competitiveness. Bipartisan, durable permitting reform is the only solution that will restore a system where supply and demand guide infrastructure development instead of political winds.
The Senate’s introduction of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 represents an important step in building momentum towards a modernized permitting law, without jeopardizing environmental standards. PAGE is especially encouraged to see necessary reforms to the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act Section 401 included in the legislation, alongside permit certainty for all forms of energy.
PAGE has worked diligently with members from both parties to advocate for these provisions and urges the Senate, House of Representatives, and White House to swiftly pass and sign this legislation to improve our nation's outdated permitting processes. Americans are demanding more affordable energy, and Congress has an opportunity to deliver the reliable and cleaner energy our country needs to reduce prices and meet rising demand.
